Our Story

In 2010, Mark M. Hankewycz an architectural engineering community professional realized a niche in the industry was needed with professionals with specialized education and experience in security and technology.  It was then he envisioned M2H Protection, a firm that through its passion and expertise in security would serve the A&E community.  


In 2013 Mr. Hankewycz founded M2H Protection with three core principles:

Our Firm

Mr. Hankewycz brings over 30 years of experience as a security professional.  He has managed security and safety programs for federal, public and private sector.  He now consults to the architectural engineering community on security for the built environment.  His consulting focuses a broad array of facility types requiring multi-disciplinary and multi-hazard approach to security.  These facilities include but are not limited to museums and cultural properties, higher education, public safety & courts, religious, industrial, banking and financial, and healthcare.  These facilities are often considered high risk or high asset levels and have requirements for redundancy and resiliency which require a higher level of expertise.  From assessment of risks and developing countermeasures and prudent security solutions, Mr. Hankewycz focuses his approach on each project by closely understanding the clients needs and customizing solutions that best fit them. 


He has expertise with security risk management, state-of-the-art security technology, ballistic and forced entry resistance, security policy and procedure development, emergency preparedness and disaster recovery planning.  He has experience in systems integration and has worked in development of special projects including working with the Army Corps of Engineers Center of Expertise for Electronic Security and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in support of these advanced security technologies.

Mr. Hankewycz is board certified in security management through ASIS International.  He serves on the Board of Direction for the National Institute for Building Sciences, Multi-hazard Mitigation and a committee member for the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) Premise Security Standards Committee (NFPA 730/731) and the Architectural & Engineering Institute’s (AEI) Building Security Council (BSC). 


Mr. Hankewycz has written several security articles and white papers, and is a principal author to Department of Homeland Security’s BIPS 06 (FEMA 426) Reference Manual to Mitigate Potential Terrorist Attacks Against Buildings and served as an expert reviewer on several other DHS Risk Management Series publications.  He is also a speaker on security matters at recognized conferences and seminars for AIA, APPA, ASIS International, ASLA and FEMA.

 
His experience stems from his experience as an U.S. Army Inspector, subsequently systems integration contractor with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and most recently the last 15 years a security consultant and design professional in the architectural and engineering community.
